About Me

I am passionate about teaching 8th grade students how to read and write to the best of their ability, and preparing them to succeed in high school and beyond. I received my Liberal Studies Degree from SDSU in 1986 and my Multiple Subjects Credential with an authorization to teach English in 1987. This is my 29th  year of teaching. I have taught grades 2-6, and 8 focusing on Language Arts. This is my seventh year at DPS. Before coming to DPS, I taught at SEMS for one year and before that I was at WPMS for 8 years.  I took a seven year break from teaching from 1998-2005 to be a stay at home mom. I have taught in the Long Beach Unified School District, South Bay Union School District, and Vista Unified School District before joining the San Marcos Unified School District.  It is by far the best district I have worked in due to the consistency and support that is given by the district, teachers, and families.

I have been married for 31 years and have two children, ages 24 and 28.  My son is a graduate student at CSULB studying philosophy and my daughter is an art teacher. I also have a 20 month old granddaughter. My hobbies include traveling, reading, paddle boarding, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. I love being outdoors with nature; it is how I recharge.

I'm looking forward to a wonderful year with you and your child.  Please feel free to contact me at anytime; you know your child best and I know we will make a great team!
