Check your Mood

Check Your Mood Weeks (11/9 and 12/14)
What does Check Your Mood Week/Signs of Suicide address?

SOS (Signs of Suicide) focuses on preventing suicide by educating youth and their families on the risk factors of suicide and to reduce the stigma around seeking help for themselves or others. In addition, the HERE Now program is working to support the school culture and environment to be preventive and proactive in educating all members of the school community regarding suicide prevention and identifying and working with individual students who may be struggling emotionally and/or engaging in self-destructive or otherwise risky behaviors.

How is the program structured?

North County Lifeline will present the SOS® Prevention Curriculum which consists of an 8 min video followed by a short discussion or activity. Following the presentation each student will also complete a survey as well as a response card; this card will ask them based on the video and /or screening, whether or not they would like to talk to someone regarding themselves or a friend. We ask that each student complete this to ensure we can support everyone that hears our presentation. This response card states they will be contacted within 24 hours by one of the NCL staff or counseling staff to ensure those students' needs are being met.
