My name is Sheryl Grout and I love helping kids learn math! 2021-2022 marks my 16th year as an educator. I have had the honor of teaching Reading Intervention, First Grade, and Fourth Grade. I am beyond excited to serve in my new role as Double Peak School's Math Intervention Teacher. I will also be teaching Math to some of our 7th-grade students!! I love being a staff member at Double Peak. It is an incredible school community.
I attended Chapman University and earned both my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Masters Degree in Elementary Education. I recently received my Math Credential from the University of California Riverside. Teaching was a career change for me, and I have never looked back. I feel so empowered and lucky to have found a career that I love. When I'm away from school, I enjoy spending my time with my family and friends. Some of my favorite activities include reading, hiking, dancing, traveling, and relaxing at the beach.

I am passionate about teaching and learning. I'm very focused on using instructional strategies that support every child's success.  It is exciting to see students grow in their self-confidence and independence throughout the year. My classroom is a safe place where students are encouraged to work hard. We learn that mistakes are to be expected and are part of the learning process. Students collaborate to learn from each other, synergize, and solve problems. We focus on developing a growth mindset and strengthening our grit.

I know that we have had a challenging time the last year and a half, but I believe in our students and their ability to learn and accomplish their goals. I look forward to a wonderful year of learning and growth.
