My name is Sheryl Grout and I love helping kids learn math! This year marks my 20th year as an educator. I have had the honor of teaching Reading Intervention, First Grade, Fourth Grade, and Math Intervention. I am beyond thrilled to continue in my role as Double Peak School's 6th Grade math teacher.  I am a founding staff member at Double Peak and I love being a part of this incredible school community.
I attended Chapman University and earned both my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Masters Degree in Elementary Education. I received my Math Credential from the University of California Riverside. Teaching was a career change for me, and I have never looked back. I feel so empowered and lucky to have found a career that I love. When I'm away from school, I enjoy spending my time with my family and friends. Some of my favorite activities include reading, hiking, dancing, traveling, and walking my dog.

I am passionate about teaching and learning. I'm very focused on using instructional strategies that support every child's success.  6th grade is a big change for students, and it is exciting to see them mature and take on new challenges with confidence. My classroom is a safe place where students are encouraged to work hard. We learn that mistakes are to be expected and are part of the learning process. Students collaborate to learn from each other, synergize, and solve problems. We focus on developing a growth mindset and strengthening our grit.

I look forward to a wonderful year of learning, community, and fun!
