I am excited to be your teacher this year!

My husband Randy and I live in Carlsbad and have two little girls, Layni (13), Taylin (10), little boy Daxtyn (5.5) and dog Ollie (3). Randy is a math teacher at Mission Hills, so if you have older children they may know Mr. Amos. Layni runs cross country and loves art, Taylin plays soccer for CitySC Carlsbad, enjoys gymnastics and loves math. Dax loves soccer, playing with superheroes and the waves at the beach.

Last year was my first year as a Sun and I loved it. There is something very special about DPS and I am so happy that I'm here! I have been in the district for 13 years, and waited to make the move to DPS until my daughter completed elementary school at my former site.

When I'm not in the classroom, I love to jog at the beach, hike, swim, camp, go to the beach, watch my kids play sports, READ, and travel.

Effort is the most important to me and a child who puts forth effort always does their best. If a student doesn't like a particular subject or struggles, it is very important to me to determine why and help them understand and enjoy that subject. I love hands-on, project based learning because ALL students learn differently. We might go outside, we might head out for a field trip or a project might come home. It's all about engagement and involvement. A student who isn't engaged is a student who isn't learning. My goal and priority as an educator is to foster and maintain a love for learning and growing.

I look forward to being with your child every day, and cannot wait to see them grow!
