Lisa DesLauriers

Welcome! I am a 30-years experienced teacher and I love what I do! I am married with two grown sons, a daughter-in-law, and two spoiled cats! I am a life-long resident of San Marcos and graduate of San Marcos schools. I was here before there was a grocery store, and nothing more than cows and olive trees! In those days, you could find me hunting crawdads, playing hide-and-seek in the hills, riding a mini-bike, and playing with my Barbies. Today, I spend my time engaging with students, hanging out with family, traveling as often as possible, and shopping!

I have been involved with children all my life! My love of children began at an early age when I frequently babysat. Later on as I pursued my teaching credential, I worked as an elementary school aide. I began my professional career teaching at San Marcos Elementary, moved to Woodland Park, opened Discovery Elementary, and then joined Double Peak School in its inaugural year. I am a caring, engaged, and energetic teacher who strives to improve my teaching practices, while fostering strong relationships with each and every one of my students. I believe strongly in developing the whole child, recognizing that education is a combination of strong academics and social-emotional growth. It is my desire to foster in each child the belief he/she is unique and incredibly special, and that learning is a journey that is life-long, and takes different turns, stops-and-starts, and pathways for each individual. It is also important for each child to understand through his/her personal effort, determination, perseverance, and self-reliance and independence, that he/she is powerful, capable, gifted, and personally responsible for the amazing achievements he/she will make during their time in fourth grade and for the years to come! I am looking very forward to a new crew of fourth graders and getting to know them all!!!
