On August 31, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) released nine Summer Meal Program Waiver Extensions which allow schools that have started the new school year to use the Seamless Summer Option (SSO)  through December 31, 2020 instead of the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. These waivers are in response to the nationwide COVID-19 pandemic.

What does this mean for us?

ALL children 18 years of age and under are able to receive FREE combo meals starting TODAY. We are no longer limited to serving only SMUSD students.

- Children 18 years of age and under who do not attend SMUSD are able to receive meals for free.

- Parents/guardians are able to pick up meals without children present, and they do not need to provide their child's student ID or meal card at the point of sale.

- Combo meals include hot meals and freshly-made salads with the next day's breakfast.

- Meals will continue to be served at the 9 school sites (Carrillo, Joli Ann, La Mirada, San Marcos Elementary, Richland, SEMS, SMMS, MHHS, and SMHS) plus the 20 bus delivery locations.
