- Here and Now Program (Suicide Prevention): A new bill has been passed mandating Suicide Prevention Training for 7th-12th grades. Double Peak will be participating in a program called Check Your Mood, which will be a week long event starting December 11th, 2017. It is a program that is aimed for students to learn and understand the effects of mental health, recognizing the signs and symptoms of depression and how to act on it.
There will be a parent information meeting on October 9th, 2017, so you can review the content that will be presented to the students throughout that week. It will also include a preview of the suicide prevention video the students will see. If you would like to opt your child out of this event, please fill out the included passive permission slip before the week of December 4th.

- CCGI (California College Guidance Initiative): provides students in grades 7th-12th with a deeper insight into college and career planning. This program helps students and their families plan and prepare for higher education/careers after the completion of secondary education. The students will get two lessons a year on CCGI, but they are able to access the resources at any point in time using their login information.

- CJSF: (The California Scholarship Federation, Inc.): is a nonprofit organization that encourages academic achievement and the involvement of community service among middle and high school students throughout California. Students who are eligible are based off their grades on their report card. Seventh graders are able to apply in the Spring semester. Eighth graders have the opportunity to apply in the Fall and Spring semesters for their grades the previous semester. Awards are recognized to students for their academic achievement and their dedication to community service.
DPS has been approved for California Junior Scholarship Federation (CJSF)! Applications can be picked up for 8th graders only and dropped off at the Registrar's desk during a two week window: November 28th until December 12th by 3 pm. No exceptions. This one time only, 8th grader students may also apply for membership based on both the 1st and 2nd semester of 7th grade. That way, if they earn enough semesters they will be able to graduate with CJSF honors. Please have your 8th grade students complete the Fall and Spring applications for their 7th grade grades.
