Welcome Double Peak fifth grade families! We are excited to be the fifth grade team this year. This page will contain general fifth grade information. Please go to your child's teacher's website for specific classroom information.
Below you will find information regarding grade level homework policies, as well as standards that will be taught during the school year.
Homework:
All homework given will be both purposeful and meaningful. Per district policy, students will not be given more than 45 minutes of homework a night. Homework will consist of 20 minutes of reading and journaling responses to reading. In addition, math homework will review standards previously taught in class.
Reading:
We will be using our a district curriculum, Benchmark Universe. The reading will be done in both a whole group and small group setting, and will be based on 5th grade Common Core State Standards.
Writing:
Fifth grade writing assessments will be given on opinion, informative, and narrative. Students will be writing both formally and informally throughout each day.
Mathematics:
Concepts taught will be based on Common Core State Standards, which include: Number sense, Fractions, Decimals, Place Value, Geometry, and Measurement
Science:
We are excited to be piloting a new program forNext Generation Science Standards.
Social Studies:
Fifth Grade Social Studies revolves around studying US History. Specific topics will include: American Indians, Exploration, Colonization, Revolutionary War, Westward Expansion.
