Alexis Alegre

Welcome!
Picture of Ms. Alegre

I'm happy to be starting up my seventh school year at DPS with you and your family! I am a San Marcos native and attended all SMUSD schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating from San Marcos High School in 2000! Go KNIGHTS! I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of San Diego, and graduate degree at Alliant International University. I'm married to my high school sweetheart and we have three children: Alexandria (second grade), Ariana (fourth grade), and AJ (fifth grade) who attend Knob Hill Elementary.

I work with our students receiving special education services from TK through 8th grades,  collaborate with teachers and parents to ensure our students make progress toward their individual goals. Helping with positive behavior supports and strategies in the general education classrooms and in separate settings, ensuring open communication with the entire school team, educating parents and staff on various disabilities and the amazing abilities of our individual students, and completing comprehensive assessments as part of a multidisciplinary team, are just some of my favorite aspects of my job.

Although most of my work as a School Psychologist is with students with IEPs and our Special Education Team, I also work collaboratively with our Intervention Team (Admin, Literacy TOSA-Ms. Pugh; School Counselor; and School Social Worker-Mrs. Alana, General Education Teachers) on tiered social-emotional behavior supports and strategies. Once the Intervention Team has exhausted tiered supports, I often join team meetings to help support students by developing targeted goals and intervention plans with the team.

I look forward to this school year and helping support our DPS students and community in new, innovative ways. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me:
